The story of
Black Marble Games
Founded in the spring of 2019, Black Marble Games is an independent TTRPG developer and the creator of Rhenge, an all-new 5th edition campaign setting. Set in the aftermath of an apocalyptic war between nature and civilization, Rhenge is about coming together, learning from the horrors of the past, and surviving in a new and terrifying world.
Black Marble Games is led by Riley Passmore, a writer, professor, and semi-professional woodworker based in Tampa, Florida. He earned his MFA in fiction from the University of South Florida in 2015, and currently teaches college-level English composition and literature in a dual enrollment program for high school students. His fiction has appeared in Five on the Fifth, while his creative nonfiction has appeared in Sweet: A Literary Confection, as well as others. His 2018 essay, “Type One,” was anthologized in Bodies of Truth: Personal Narratives on Illness, Disability, and Medicine.
He started Black Marble Games, as well as created Rhenge, to write new, fantastical stories, push the boundaries of 5th edition, and bring to life a world like no other in the table-top hobby.
